Two years ago, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed an ‘assault weapons’ ban into law, banning the sale of the AR-15 rifle and almost 150 similar firearms in Illinois.
This week, the challenge to that law is being heard in Federal District Court (Southern District of Illinois) in East St. Louis, Illinois.
(GGO’s Aaron Dorr, in Federal Court in East St. Louis, as the fight over the AR-15 ban plays out, potentially setting the stage for an appeal to the United States Supreme Court!)
We’re here, on the ground in East St. Louis, watching this fight play out to give you up-to-the-minute updates on this case.
For an overview of this case, information on Judge McGlynn, potential outcomes, next steps, and why this matters to gun owners who do not live in Illinois, watch this short video!
As you heard, the reason why we spent donor resources to be involved in this case as Amicus and then with a ‘Cert Petition’ to the Supreme Court, is to give the current Supreme Court (the most pro-gun in our lives) the chance to decide on this case!
But to get to the Supreme Court, we first need to get through the District Court and then the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

This is supposed to be a 5-day bench trial.
Stay tuned to your email inbox and our social media platforms for more information throughout the week!
There has never been a better time to fight for gun rights in Federal/Circuit/Supreme Court!
Make sure we can continue to do so!
