Whereas: Georgia’s preemption law makes it clear only the legislature can regulate firearms and ammunition in Georgia. The problem is that the penalties for a violation are only $100. That’s why cities like Savannah are passing their own illegal gun control laws; and
Whereas: If the legislature doesn’t fix this, dozens of cities will soon follow suit; and
Whereas: The Senate has already passed Senate Bill 163, which increases the civil penalties in our preemption law from $100 to $50,000. This will give Georgians real protections against liberal cities, and the ability to sue them in civil court for a violation; and
Whereas: The House has not moved a pro-gun bill through the chamber since 2022, instead your chamber has been holding hearings on gun control bills!
Therefore: As a voter in your district, I am writing to insist that you publicly support and vote yes on Senate Bill 163. This is my top priority this session, and I’ll be watching your vote closely.
