The Trump Shooting: Inside Job or Incompetence?

Over the last ten days, we’ve had dozens of members reach out and ask our thoughts about the attempted assassination of President Trump at the rally in Butler, PA.

How could the Secret Service fail so badly?

Was it a setup?

If so, who was behind it?

Of course, it seems like everyone on social media is ablaze with theories on what happened, too.

Some of these theories and fuzzy photographs don’t pass the smell test. But there are documented, factual events that did take place that demand accountability. For example:

  1. Why did the Secret Service allow the would-be assassin to fly a drone over the venue just hours before Trump arrived?
  2. Why did the Secret Service allow the would-be assassin to bring a range finder through security and onto the grounds?
  3. How did the Secret Service miss the AR-15 that the would-be assassin stashed on the grounds before the event?
  4. Why did the Secret Service perimeter not extend at least as far as the nearby buildings? The shot was taken from just 143 yards, yet outside the coverage area.
  5. Local law enforcement took pictures of the would-be assassin 57 minutes before the shots were fired. Why did the Secret Service not intervene during that time?
  6. The Secret Service received multiple requests from the Trump campaign to beef up his security team. Why were those requests denied?

If you watched any of the Congressional hearing on this earlier this week, you know that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle refused to answer any weighty questions.

Frankly, it’s hard to trust the FBI to get this right, either.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie summed it up perfectly in a post on Twitter recently.

My view is that it doesn’t really matter to gun owners if this was an inside job or a display of extreme incompetence, the result is the same; the attempt on Trump’s life is being used by the Left and the media to disarm all of us!

We need to get loud — fast.

Thank God for His providence that directed the bullet through President Trump’s ear instead of his head.

If the would-be assassin was successful, we could have seen RINO crossover votes in Congress right now, giving the Left a chance to ban the sale of AR-15s forever!

At the end of the day, the steps for gun owners are clear.

We need to continue putting pressure on our Congressional delegation — including the Republicans — to make sure they don’t sell us out.

And on a personal level, keep buying AR-15, mags, and the parts kits you need to maintain them while they are plentiful.

The Second Amendment is one of the things that separates America from every other country on earth. If we lose our gun rights, we’ll never get them back!
